“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem in-
vincible, but in the end, they always fall... think of it, always.” - Mahatma Gandhi
It is the urgent mission of The Resistance: from Angst to Action to fight the unjust actions of the Trump Administration by filling the gaps not addressed by other activist groups, networking with them, and making the resistance more visible to the citizens of North Central Washington.
COMING SOON! - Petition Party -- We are planning a gathering where resistance organizations throughout the area will have petitions related to their core concerns. We are wanting to have this at a central location near Apple Blossom time. We will have refreshments and perhaps live music. Interested? Contact Keith Madsen at drkmad2006@yahoo.com.
Reverse Trump's Global Health Care Funding Ban -- Of all the dangerous unjust acts Trump and Musk have done, defunding USAID is perhaps the worst. It exposes millions to disease and poverty. And the diseases like Ebola and AIDS, that start in Africa, will end up here as well. So, it's bad for others AND bad for us! Contact your congressional leaders!
Report on petitions signed at Rally for Ukraine --The Board of Directors of Friends of Ukraine Refugees plans to deliver copies of our petitions signed by 199 registered voters to the City Councils of Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, and Moses Lake, and to the County Commissioners of Chelan and Douglas Counties. We plan to make a public statement to our elected officials similar to what is stated in the petition, to wit: we ask our elected representatives to continue the policy of supporting the country of Ukraine and the protected status of its refugees. FYI, copies of all 199 signatures have been mailed to Representatives Newhouse and Schrier, Senators Murray and Cantwell, Governor Ferguson, and President Trump.
AARP - Protect Social Security! -- As Social Security prepares to slash its workforce, AARP is urging its members to call on Congress to protect the program that provides crucial financial support to 68 million retirees, people with disabilities and members of their families. Sign their petition, join their effort!
Saturday, April 5th -- HANDS OFF! National Day of Action -- What a rally we had!! Keith did some counting and came up with a rough estimate of 750-800 people. And that might have been a little low! Thanks to all who came and/or honked as you drove past. Our voice was heard along with the hundreds of thousands of people who participated in over a thousand rallies nationwide. Let's keep it coming! See the media page for pictures.
